Lillah Halla is a Brazilian filmmaker and storyteller based in Berlin.
Born in 1981, she completed her studies at the acclaimed Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión de Cuba (2010-2014), followed by a post grad research program at the Dpt. of Fine Arts of the Concordia University, in Montreal (2014). Lillah is an Academy Filmmaker in Locarno, TIFF Lab Fellow/ Share her Journey Fellow and a Berlinale Talent.
Her most recent short film Menarca is one of the 10 selected shorts at Semaine de La Critique Cannes 2020, awarded in Kurzfilmtage Winterthur 2020. She recently collaborated in the feature film productions Island of the Hungry Ghosts (Best Documentary Tribeca 2019, Nominated for the Spirits Award 2020) , Ensaio (Forum Berlinale 2019, commissioned by the São Paulo Biennial 2018).
Lillah´s passion and strength in storytelling has brought her to Germany, where she has been collaborating in film projects for the past 10 years, with directors such as Christoph Schlingensief and Frank Castorf.
