Sally Shamas is a Beirut-born, Berlin-based Digital Colorist, with over 13 years of experience in the film industry. Alongside her engineering studies, she worked full time as an editor for 4 years. Meanwhile she acquired knowledge in Lighting set-up and developed a passion for images by experimenting with light and colors.
In 2009, in the frame of moving into digital cinema, she received a training as a Digital Image Technician from Beirut’s most renowned posthouses where she worked on the Red Camera, as a camera crew and became the first trained female D.I.T. in Lebanon.
In 2010, fascinated by the grading suite, she started her career as a junior colorist. Being mentored by four very skilled international Colorists, training her eyes with a lot of sensitivity and attention to details, she gained a wide perspective on treating colors and collaborated with agencies such as Leo Burnett and Grey worldwide.
Having worked on commercials, long and short format, videoclips and documentaries, her approach is mostly shaped by the project and the artist behind the work in order to use her expertise and creative approach through color in service of the project.
